Antenna Power Density Calculator

This calculator estimates the power density emitted by an antenna based on the input power, gain and distance from the antenna. It makes it possible to verify compliance with electromagnetic exposure limits and to evaluate the coverage of the radiated field.

Formula

S = (P × G) / (4 × π × R²)

Explanation of the formula

The power density S corresponds to the energy radiated by the antenna on a given surface. P represents the power applied to the antenna, G its gain (in linear or in dB), and R the distance at which the power is measured. The factor 4πR² expresses the surface of a sphere centered on the antenna, assumed to emit uniformly.

Uses of the calculator

  • Evaluate radiated field density for RF safety.
  • Analyze the performance and range of an antenna.
  • Check compliance with electromagnetic exposure standards.
  • Practical tool for RF engineers and measurement technicians.
