Star to Triangle Converter

Enter the Wye/Star resistances to calculate Delta resistances:

This converter allows you to transform the resistances of a star circuit (Y) into equivalents in a triangle circuit (Δ). This makes it easier to analyze and simplify three-phase circuits or complex resistor networks.

Formula

R a = R 1 + R 2 + (R 1 × R 2 ) / R 3

R b = R 2 + R 3 + (R 2 × R 3 ) / R 1

R c = R 1 + R 3 + (R 1 × R 3 ) / R 2

Explanation of the formula

Each resistance of the triangle is obtained by adding the two adjacent resistances of the star and adding the product of these two resistances divided by the third resistance. This relationship ensures that the same apparent impedance is maintained between the three terminals of the network.

Uses

  • Analysis and simplification of three-phase electricity networks.
  • Conversion of resistor circuits to facilitate current and voltage calculations.
  • Optimization of assemblies in electronics and circuit design.
  • Education and understanding of the relationships between star and triangle configurations.
