Delta Network to Star Network Converter

Enter the delta resistances to calculate Wye resistances:

This converter transforms the resistances of a triangle network (Delta) into equivalent resistances of a star network (Wye). It is useful for simplifying analyzes of complex electrical circuits and for facilitating the calculation of currents and voltages at different points in the circuit.

Formula

R1 = (Rb × Rc) / (Ra + Rb + Rc)

R2 = (Ra × Rc) / (Ra + Rb + Rc)

R3 = (Ra × Rb) / (Ra + Rb + Rc)

Explanation of the formula

Each star resistance is calculated as the product of the two non-adjacent Delta resistances divided by the total sum of the Delta resistances. This method ensures that the impedance between any pair of terminals remains the same after conversion, thus retaining the electrical behavior of the original network.

Uses

  • Analysis and simplification of three-phase electrical networks or balanced circuits.
  • Conversion between Delta and Wye topologies to facilitate power and current calculations.
  • Resistor sizing and performance optimization in industrial and electronic systems.
  • Study of the impact of resistances on the voltages and currents of complex networks.
