Radar blind speed calculator

This calculator determines the blind speed of a radar as well as the wavelength of the signal. It helps identify how quickly a target becomes temporarily undetectable, when the Doppler shift matches the radar pulse repetition frequency.

Formulas

λ = c/f

v = (λ × 10⁹) / (2 × PRT)

where c = 299792458 m/s

Explanation of formulas

The first formula calculates the wavelength λ of the radar signal as a function of its frequency f. Then, the blind speed v is calculated from λ and the pulse repetition period (PRT). This speed corresponds to the point where the radar cannot distinguish movement due to the synchronization of its pulses.

Uses of the calculator

  • Determine the speeds of invisible targets for a given radar.
  • Optimize frequency and PRT parameters in radar systems.
  • Analyze the performance of pulse radars.
  • Practical tool for telecommunications and defense engineers.
